Unexpected Error 4160 "Bad File Name" when creating new documents

When creating a new document, TurboLaw displays an error message, which lists the error number as 4160, the error description as Bad File Name, and the error source as Microsoft Word. The error message will appear similar to the one shown below.

The document will then open, but no data will be merged.

This problem will occur if you are using TurboLaw's Alternate Case Folder Location option for a case and you have chosen a network folder (a UNC path, selected through the My Network Places icon) instead of a mapped network drive (through My Computer).

Mapped network drives appear under the My Computer icon and start with a letter, .e.g., `T:` or `X:` or `Z:`.

Direct network folders (a.k.a. UNC paths) are found under the My Network Places icon and begin with two slashes, e.g., `\\server\documents`.

TurboLaw and Microsoft Word require you to use a mapped network drive instead of a UNC path. Therefore, any time you are referencing a file or folder on your network, use a mapped drive and not a UNC path. (A UNC path begins with 2 slashes, such as `\\Server\My Documents`. If you mapped the folder `My Documents` on the computer named `Server` to a drive letter, such as `T:`, you would reference that folder with `T:` instead. This is what is required for TurboLaw.)

To resolve this problem, always select folders for your cases using a mapped network drive (as found under the My Computer icon) instead of a UNC path (as found under the My Network Places icon).
