By default, TurboLaw will check for updates automatically each time you open the program. This happens silently, in the background, unless your attention is needed.
You can see if TurboLaw is automatically checking for updates by looking at the bottom-left corner of the TurboLaw window - when TurboLaw is checking for or downloading updates, a small progress bar will appear, along with some text indicating what TurboLaw is doing (checking for or downloading updates).
You'll also see a pop-up message appear at the bottom-right corner of your screen when TurboLaw is done checking for or downloading updates letting you know that you are either already up-to-date or telling you how many updates were downloaded.

As long as you see this appear each time you open TurboLaw, then you have automatic updates turned on and do not need to take any special steps to ensure that your software is up-to-date. If your attention is required to install an update, the program will notify you with a pop-up in the lower-right corner of your screen.
How to turn on automatic updates
If you don't see any of the notifications described above when you open TurboLaw, then you may not have automatic updates enabled. To make sure your automatic updates are turned on, follow these steps:
- Click on the Tools tab in TurboLaw
- Click on the option button at the bottom-right of the Update section (see picture below)
- Make sure that the option to Check for updates automatically is selected, then click OK.
It is always recommended to have TurboLaw check for updates automatically.
