Error message "Could not load file or assembly 'System.EnterpriseServices.Wrapper.DLL'" when starting TurboLaw

When starting TurboLaw, an error message appears saying that the database could not be opened, and then gives the specific reason as:

Could not load file or assembly 'System.EnterpriseServices.Wrapper.DLL' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the path specified.

This error is caused by a problem with the Microsoft .NET Framework, which is required by TurboLaw. To resolve this error, you must "repair" the Microsoft .NET Framework. To do this, follow these steps:

For Windows XP and Windows Vista:

  1. Click your Start menu
  2. Open the Control Panel
  3. Open Add/Remove Programs
  4. Scroll through the list until you find the entry for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 and click on this item.
  5. Click on the Change or Change/Remove button
  6. Choose Repair and then click Next
  7. When the repair is complete, click Finish. Once you have repaired the Microsoft .NET Framework, you should be able to open TurboLaw without receiving the error.

For Windows 7 and Windows 8:

The Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 is built into these newer versions of Windows. Because of this, it is not possible to "repair" it in the traditional sense - however, you can force Windows to re-install it.

  1. Open the Control Panel
  2. Click on Programs and Features, then click on Turn Windows features on or off
  3. In the list which appears, un-check the box labeled Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1, then click OK.
  4. If you are prompted to reboot your computer, do so.
  5. Follow steps 1 and 2 again to return to the same screen, then check the box labeled Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1.
  6. Click OK and reboot your computer if prompted.

Once this process is complete you should be able to open TurboLaw without receiving the error.
