How to Connect to TurboLaw Cloud from Mac OS X

This article will guide you through setting up your connection to TurboLaw Cloud from an Apple computer running Mac OS X.

On your Apple device, go to the App Store. In the search box at the top right corner, type in "Microsoft Remote Desktop" and press Enter.

Note: There may be more than 1 result - the app you want to use with TurboLaw Cloud is the Microsoft Remote Desktop app with the round icon as shown below.

Click Get in the tile for "Microsoft Remote Desktop" and then click Install App. The "Install App" button text will change to "Installing" during the installation process, and finally to "Open" when the installation has finished. (You can also find the application in your Launchpad.)

When the application has finished installing, click Open to launch the app (or find it in your Launchpad).

When you first open Microsoft Remote Desktop, you'll see a screen like the one shown above. To begin, click Add Desktop.

On this screen, enter the PC Name exactly as shown in the email you received from TurboLaw.

Note: the PC name should not begin with http:// nor should it end with a slash ('/'). If you see these characters if you copy & paste the PC name, remove them.

Next, click the drop-down for User Account and select Add User Account.

On this screen, enter your user name and password exactly as shown in the email that was sent to you. We recommend you copy & paste the user name and password - you can right-click or Option-click (if you only have one mouse button) to copy & paste.

Note: take care when entering your user name and password - they must be entered exactly as they appear in your welcome email. If you copy & paste from the email, make sure you don't accidentally copy a blank space in front of or at the end of your user name or password, otherwise it won't be an exact match.

You can leave the Friendly Name field blank.

When you have finished entering the user name and password, click Save.

Below the PC name and User account fields is a row of tabs: General, Display, Devices & Audio, and Folders.

You do not need to change any further options on the General page, so next click on the Display tab.

On this screen, you can change the way the Remote Desktop appears. We recommend that you un-check the option for Start session in full screen and instead select the option Fit session to window.

Next, click on the Devices & Audio tab.

On this screen, check the box for Printers. This will allow you to print from TurboLaw Cloud to any printer that is connected to your Mac.

Important: be sure to check the "printers" check box, or else you will not be able to print from TurboLaw Cloud.

Next, click on the Folders tab.

If you'd like to be able to save your TurboLaw documents to your Mac, check the box labeled Redirect folders, and then click the "+" button at the bottom-left of the window. From here you can choose any folder you like. The folder you choose will be made available to TurboLaw Cloud, allowing you to save files back to your Mac and work on them even when you're not connected to TurboLaw Cloud.

When you are done, click Save to save your changes. Your TurboLaw Cloud connection is now ready to use. To connect to TurboLaw Cloud in the future, just launch the Microsoft Remote Desktop app and double-click your connection and you will be logged in automatically.

Note: if you need to edit any of these settings, hover your mouse over the connection and click the pencil icon.

If you chose to have your TurboLaw Cloud connection open in full-screen mode, you'll be able to switch back to your Mac at any time by pushing your mouse to the very top-middle of the screen and holding it there - after a moment the Mac menu bar will appear and you can minimize the TurboLaw Cloud window or switch to other applications on your Mac.

If instead you chose to have your TurboLaw Cloud connection open as a window, you'll be able to see TurboLaw Cloud and your Mac desktop and dock at the same time. You can resize the TurboLaw Cloud window just like any other window on your Mac.

If you need to make changes to your TurboLaw Cloud connection (for example, if you want to be able to save your files from TurboLaw Cloud back to your Mac but didn't set this up originally) you can hover over your connection icon and click the "pencil" icon. Once you've done this, you can make changes to your connection as needed.
