Unable to start TurboLaw Time and Billing after update

If the automatic TurboLaw update is interrupted or canceled prematurely this can leave your TurboLaw in a state where the program is unable to start. Depending on how the update was interrupted, this can result in different symptoms - however the most common symptom is that TurboLaw simply fails to start with no visible error message. (However, an error message is written to the Windows event log, usually referencing a missing assembly.)

If an update to TurboLaw is interrupted in this way, the issue can be resolved by simply re-running the update and allowing it to finish. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Run window by pressing the Windows key and the letter R key on your keyboard at the same time. (The Windows key can be found next to the spacebar on your keyboard, between the CTRL and ALT keys.)
  2. Once the Run window appears, type (or copy and paste) the following into the text box labeled Open: %AppData%\Promethean Software Corporation\TurboLaw Time and Billing\1.0.0.0\update.exe

  3. Press Enter (or click OK) and the TurboLaw update will begin. Click Next to proceed with the update, and click Finish when the update is complete.
  4. Once you click Finish, TurboLaw will automatically re-open.

If these steps do not resolve your issue, then your problem may not have been caused by an interrupted update. The symptoms of an interrupted update can be similar to other types of issues. If you are still unable to open TurboLaw after completing these steps, please contact TurboLaw tech support.
