Automatic update doesn't finish or appears to be stuck

When TurboLaw Time and Billing is installing an automatic update, it may appear to be "stuck" on the update progress bar and never finishes - even after waiting for a very long time.

If you check the Windows Task Manager, you'll see that the TurboLaw Time and Billing update setup is running, but is using 0% CPU.

This problem occurs when:

  • Your computer does not have at least version 4.5.2 of the .NET Framework installed
  • Another Windows Update is pending and requires a reboot to finish

In this case, TurboLaw Time and Billing will try to install the required version of the .NET Framework, but it will be unable to complete the setup because of the pending Windows Update.

To resolve this issue, restart your computer so that the pending Windows Update can be completed, then open TurboLaw Time and Billing again. The next time TurboLaw Time and Billing performs an update check, it will install the update again and it should now be able to proceed and complete without issue.
